Playing WoW: Wrath of the Lich King

With users rapidly conquering end-game content in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, Blizzard was getting ready to launch its second expansion for the popular MMO: Wrath of the Lich King.

Again, we see the same upgrades we saw in BC, but MUCH bigger and MUCH better. For starters, the increase in power from 70-80 dwarfed that which we saw when going from 60-70. We were blessed with an enormous new continent for playing WoW in, and all kinds of new features.

Some of the new features - like achievements - seem to have been more of a cop-out for creating new content. But in reality, things like this were just icing on the cake. WotLK is HUGE and players enjoyed many, many hours searching out ever last drop of entertainment laid out for them in it.

So what happens once we've collected all the mounts, beaten the hell out of all the bosses, and explored every nook & cranny of Northrend? A new expansion, that's what!

Cataclysm is set to hit shelves later this year, and hungry WoW fans are already barking at the gates, as per usual. Blizzard is keeping them happy and hungry for more with scraps on the Cataclysm promotional page, all while creating the next big expansion for their hit MMO, World of Warcraft.

Stayed tuned for details coming tomorrow.

World of Warcraft Overview & BC

When World of Warcraft launched 7 years ago, hardly anyone expected to see the level of success it has today. As of February 2010, over 13 MILLION people world wide are enjoying this MMO phenomenon. Moreover, returning subscriber aren't far behind.

With more and more people playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard has been challenged with the task of keeping old players interested (and paying their subscription fees) while now bombarding new addicts with an overload of information and options.

Their first expansion, Burning Crusade, introduced a whole new land to the world of Azeroth: Outland. Upon launch, millions of players flocked to the gate (located in the Blasted Lands zone) to challenge a giant demon and gain entry to this new world. It offered new quests, new cities, new races, and a level cap of 70 (up from 60). But before long, players had conquered this new world and were hungry for more.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post: World of Warcraft: WotLK.
